Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026 · SchoolComs (schoolcoms.co.za), South Africa. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
What we collect
- Your WhatsApp number and first name — to create and operate your account.
- School emails you forward to your SchoolComs address — including their attachments. These may mention your children (names, classes, results). We only receive what your forwarding rules send to that address — please forward school communication only, never personal email.
- Messages you exchange with our WhatsApp service — to answer your requests.
- Subscription status — payments are processed by PayFast; we never see or store your card details.
How we use it
- To summarise school emails, deliver attachments, and build your personal calendar — this is the entire purpose of the service.
- Email content is processed automatically (including by software running on our own equipment). It is never used to train AI models, never sold, and never shared with third parties except the service providers needed to run SchoolComs (our hosting provider, Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform, and PayFast for billing).
- Children's information appears only inside your own account and is shown only to your WhatsApp number.
Storage & retention
- Data is stored on our South African-hosted server. Mailbox copies of processed emails are deleted after roughly 30 days; the extracted content and summaries remain in your account so you can search them.
- You can stop messages anytime by sending STOP.
- To delete your account and all associated data, contact us on +27 72 239 1549. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
Your rights (POPIA)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Please contact us on +27 72 239 1549.
SchoolComs is an independent service and is not affiliated with any school, WhatsApp/Meta, or PayFast.
